The Ahwahnee

Lane and I took Nora to the Ahwahnee for her birthday this year. You know, sometimes these high priced mucky muck places are not what they are cracked up to be. That is certainly not the case for the Ahwahnee. It is a classic lodge located in what is arguably the most beautiful national park in the country. What's really cool about the place is the way people just hang around and chill. They just wander in and sit in the great room near the fire and read or play a game of cards. We spent quite a bit of time just hanging out by the fire. You should be prepared to spend some money on food. Even if you do the low budget food court at the Yosemite Lodge, you'll spend $20-$30 on a couple burgers and drinks. The "Grand Brunch" on Sunday in the Ahwahnee dining room was something like $35 a person and worth every penny. I put a weekend at the Ahwahnee as one of those things you need to put on your lifes "Important Things To Do" list.
